The Department of Physical Education at Subharam Government Degree College in Punganur is one of the active and outstanding departmentsdedicated to promoting physical fitness, sportsmanshipand overall well-being of the students. The department is led by K Anil Kumar, In-charge of the department who also serves as Lecturer in English. The staff includes P Ram Kumar, a Guest Lecturer in Physical Education. The primary focus of the department is to provide comprehensive training in various aspects such as Sports and Games, Yoga, Health and Fitness, Life Skills and Personality Development with holistic approach, aiming to ensure the overall well-being of the students. The principle objective of the department is to foster emotional composure along with physical fitness among the students.One notable feature of the department is the provision of a certificate course in YOGA, reflecting its commitment to a well-rounded approach to health and wellness. Morning sessions are held from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, and afternoon sessions run from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This flexibilityallows students to engage in physical activities during the morning and evening hours, accommodating their academic schedules. Furthermore, the department prepares students to participate in various sports events, including Intramurals, Inter-collegiate, Inter-university, State and National levels.
